2nd grade standards

Common Core has become our language in 2nd grade! It has taken a while but I really am starting to memorize what the standard number is and what it means. Wow the end of the trimester is on Valentine's day already! I feel the love :)
All weekend I have been working on my comments for the report cards. It really made me realize how much work we have to do before the end of the school year.
I will post a picture of my objective board and tell you how I use it.

One thing is for sure our 2nd graders have really embraced the writing of an opinion paper (standard 2.1 W). Here is a sample (of course my favorite because of the topic).

 Okay, so here is my objective board.....

I present it to the kids by telling them how I am giving them a gift of learning. They have to decide what to do with that gift. It is hard to see in the picture but each gift tag is a subject. Some of the objectives are not on a gift tag. Each week I tell them the objectives of the week and then I also tell them before teaching that lesson. They are written in "I can...." statements. The gift bag at the bottom is where I keep the next objectives so they are handy to place on the board. If you have any questions about the objective board feel free to comment them.
